Mbeya City coach resigns

Mbeya City coach Abdallah Mubiru has confirmed that he has left the team after relegation, citing two reasons that contributed to the result

Mubiru signed a two-year contract, where there was an option to extend the contract if they remain in the premier league and break up if the team is relegated and the result is the same as you heard and saw

Mbeya City was relegated through the play offs after losing a total of 4-1 goals against Championship Heroes and joined Police Tanzania and Ruvu Shooting who were relegated early after finishing the last two places in the league

Mubiru, a Ugandan citizen, said that due to the current contract, he is free, explaining that the reason for the team's relegation is a weak squad and that he lacked the people he needed including a goalkeeper, left back and a striker after Paul Nonga retired.

He also said that City was subjected to open attacks starting from the game against Yanga, KMC and the play offs (knockout) by Mashujaa which gave them a difficult time and that he is currently going to rest with them waiting for a new offer anywhere

"Even if it was Pep Guadiola for my team, he would not have penetrated, the players did not have a level, but I asked to find a goalkeeper, a left back and a striker to support Tariq Seif and I did not get it. We were also abused in some matches," said Mubiru

The coach said when he was going to rest he was not happy with the incident of being punched by one of the leaders of the technical bench of Mashujaa and that he did not understand what the intention was

He said he is thankful that his condition is going well now after treatment at the hospital, noting that the leader looked for him the first time and avoided him before coming back and beating him

"I don't know him and I don't understand what his intention was. He started looking for me and I avoided him the first time, but he came back and hit me and broke my glasses and I was injured and I'm out of the hospital and I'm fine," said the coach who doesn't have many words

The Chairman of Mbeya City, Joseph Mlundi said they are waiting for a meeting of regional leaders to discuss the assessment of the league in general and resolutions and come up with a statement condemning the incident of the coach being beaten

"Knowing whether we will stay with the coach or part with him is not known, we are waiting for the senior management meeting, but I think we will come with an official statement to condemn the incident which is not noble," said Mlundi
