Yanga Club yesterday entered into a partnership with the Dar es Salaam Regional Governor's Office, the Regional Health Office and UNICEF TCO in an effort to raise awareness about the prevention and control of epidemic diseases including cholera. Andre Mtine, Chief Executive of Yanga SC said this yesterday May 5, 2023 while speaking to journalists
"We are happy to collaborate with the Regional Governor's Office in a campaign to raise awareness about all diarrheal diseases including the cholera outbreak. We promise to help the government deal with all the causes of diarrheal and vomiting diseases in the City of Dar es Salaam," said Mtine
Dr Rashid Mfaume, Chief Medical Officer of the Dar es Salaam Region, has said that the collaboration is an example of how collaboration between different stakeholders can play an important role in dealing with public health challenges
"We are happy to collaborate with Yanga again, as our previous collaboration at Uviko was very similar. We hope to reach as many people as possible," said Dr. Mfaume
The Director of the Yanga Branches, Haji Mfikirwa has said that the government's action to start the partnership and hand over the cholera campaign shows the size of the club
"Through our branches we will encourage our members to distribute education against all epidemics," said Mfikirwa
