Benjamin Mkapa Stadium management suspended

Due to a power outage at the Benjamin Mkapa stadium yesterday during the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup quarter-final match between Yanga and Rivers United, the Government has taken action to suspend the Stadium Management in order to investigation of the incident which has happened for the second time in six weeks

The Minister of Culture, Arts and Sports Dr. Pindi Chana has ordered the suspension of the employees involved in the operation of the Mkapa Stadium, namely the Acting Manager of the Stadium Salum Mtumbuka, the Electrical Engineer Manyori Juma Kapesa and the Administrative Officer of the Stadium Tusege Nikupala

Other suspended employees who are responsible for managing the stadium are Gordon Nsajigwa, Gabriel Mwasele, Yanuaria Imboru and Dr. Christina Luambano

In addition, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Sports has appointed Milinda Mahona as the Acting Manager of the stadium
