Luis Enrique was ready to take over at Chelsea this month and is said to be disappointed by Todd Boehly's decision to appoint Frank Lampard until the end of the season
The Blues sacked Graham Potter at the start of April amid poor conditions, despite spending hundreds of millions in the transfer market
Former Spain and Barcelona coach Enrique immediately emerged as the main contender, along with former Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann
As talks began to take place about a replacement, owner Boehly made the surprise decision to suspend the interim manager until the end of the season
He appointed Chelsea legend Frank Lampard, who had been sacked as the club's manager in 2021
Lampard himself was sacked by Everton in January and they plummeted towards relegation
Now he is set to try to save their season, but it doesn't go well. Three consecutive defeats from his opening three matches have left them in shock, with 39 points in 11th place.
Chelsea have not won a game in their last five matches in the Premier League
