Minister of Culture, Arts and Sports Hon. Ambassador Dr. Pindi Chana said the Government will provide an amount of 500 million shillings if the national football team (Taifa Stars) qualifies to participate in the Finals of the Africa Cup of Nations Afcon 2023, a tournament that will be held in 2024 in Ivory Coast.
Speaking to press today March 20, 2023 in Dar es Salaam, Dr. Chana said the Deputy Minister of the Ministry, Hon. Hamis Mwinjuma will lead the campaign towards the game against Uganda which will be played on March 24th in Egypt and the second leg will be played in Dar es Salaam on March 28th.
"I am asking Tanzanians to come out in large numbers to cheer Taifa Stars in the game on March 24th, 2023 against Uganda (The Cranes) which will be played in the city of Ismailia in Egypt and the return game will be played on March 28th, 2023 Benjamini Stadium Mkapa" said Hon. Chana.
In addition, he has asked the stakeholders of the game, including the National Sports Council (BMT), the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) and the fans to support the coach of the team, Mr. Adel Amrouche, while urging the players to commit themselves so that they can do well in the competition
