Ivory Coast centre-forward Sebastien Haller has been called up to the national squad for the match against Comoros on Wednesday after being out for several months undergoing treatment for prostate cancer
The 28-year-old striker joined Borussia Dortmund in July from Ajax and was later diagnosed with cancer
He underwent two surgeries and four rounds of chemotherapy before returning to training in January. He started playing again on January 22 and scored his first goal after falling ill on February 4 against Freiburg
Haller, who has scored four goals for the Ivory Coast national team, will play against Comoros on March 24 and 28 as part of the 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Lille winger Jonathan Bamba has also been called up for the first time having played for France at youth level.
Ivory Coast is the host of the championship which has been pushed back from June and July to January-February 2024 to avoid the rainy season
