Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa has instructed the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Sports to quickly start the renovation of the Mkapa Stadium to meet the needs of CAF after conducting an inspection recently
Hon. Majaliwa gave the order yesterday, Wednesday, March 1, 2023 in Dar es Salaam when he visited to inspect the condition of the stadium after CAF wanted it to be modified in some areas
"As long as CAF has given us a warning, it is time to make adjustments and in that time they have given us, we must start something and then let other things continue, I have come to tell you not to allow this stadium to be closed by CAF and send our teams to play away "
The Prime Minister said since CAF has brought a list of companies capable of carrying out high-level repairs, the Ministry should announce a tender if possible even with the 'Single Source' system so that the initial work can begin in the changing rooms, toilets, doors and craft batch
In addition, Hon Majaliwa has ordered a review of the number of matches that will be allowed to use the stadium by reducing the number of matches played in order to maintain the stadium including the playing area
"The Ministry, TFF and the League Board should review the matches that should be played at the Benjamin Mkapa stadium. We have Uhuru stadium and even the Azam Complex is not used most of the time, send other games there, here choose the matches that attract many fans" /em> In turn, the Secretary General of the Ministry Said Yakubu said that the areas directed by CAF to make improvements are the playing area (Pitch), technical bench, players and referees rooms, press conference hall.
