Acting Sports Development Director Ally Mayay has confirmed the closure of Benjamin Mkapa stadium for improvements
Mayay said the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has ordered major improvements to the stadium which will be used in the Africa Super League expected to start next season
Mayay explained that Simba and Yanga clubs that are participating in the Champions League and Confederation Cup will continue to use the stadium in their group stage matches
Also, the national team 'Taifa Stars' will use the field in the matches for the Afcon qualifier expected to play against Uganda in March 2023
The stadium will not be used for Premier League matches, FA to allow the improvements
The stadium will be opened after the second phase of CAF inspection which will be held in May 2023
