Simba SC Manager Patrick Rweyemamu has sent a warning to their traditional rivals Yanga SC, insisting that his side will not approach the upcoming Kariakoo Derby on Saturday, October 10, 2026, in a submissive manner.
Rweyemamu’s comments came shortly after the Simba squad arrived in Dar es Salaam yesterday from South Africa, where they had spent 10 days in a special training camp preparing for the crucial derby and other competitions this season.
Speaking to journalists, Rweyemamu acknowledged that Yanga have enjoyed better results against Simba over the past three years, but made it clear that history will have no bearing on the upcoming encounter.
"We will not go into the match feeling inferior at all. It will be a do-or-die encounter. We know their record against us in the past, but this time we are well prepared, and they should not expect to get a result easily," Rweyemamu said.
Regarding their training camp in South Africa, the manager explained that it had helped the players significantly by providing greater stability and improving their physical fitness.
Although Simba lost both friendly matches they played in South Africa, suffering a 1-0 defeat to Polokwane City and a 2-1 loss to Sekhukhune United, Rweyemamu explained that the results were not a concern because the coaching staff were primarily focused on identifying mistakes and assessing tactical systems.
The manager concluded by calling on Simba fans to turn out in large numbers at the stadium on Saturday and give the team their full support, while promising that the players are ready to fight until the last drop of sweat to restore the club’s pride.
