Simba head coach Steve Barker has expressed his satisfaction with his team’s performance following their 2–0 NBC Premier League victory over KMC at the KMC Complex yesterday.
Speaking after the match, Barker said his side controlled the game for long spells and perhaps deserved a more emphatic win.
The coach noted that while there were many positives to take from the performance, there are still areas that require improvement on the training ground.
“I’m pleased with the three points and the way we played, especially in the first half. We deserved to go into the break ahead because we controlled the game well.”
“We created many chances, dominated key areas of the pitch and were solid both in possession and out of possession.”
“We made it difficult for our opponents by pressing them when they tried to build from the back. In the second half we slightly dropped our intensity — I think we should have continued from where we left off and scored more goals.”
“It’s not the first time we’ve performed like that in the second half, and it’s an area we need to improve,” Barker said.
Following the match, Simba now shift their focus back to the CAF Champions League. On Saturday, they will host Stade Malien at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in their final group-stage fixture.
The match will merely complete the schedule, as its result will have no impact on the Group B standings.
