Simba attacking midfielder Elie Mpanzu believes he will rediscover his scoring touch despite a slow start to the season.
At the beginning of the campaign, Mpanzu faced heavy criticism after many were unimpressed with his performances, with some even accusing him of deliberately undermining Simba.
However, after a few matches, Mpanzu appeared to regain his form by providing assists, although he himself struggled to convert the chances he created.
The DR Congo international said he believes he has simply been unlucky, insisting that he has done many things correctly and is confident the goals will come.
“As a player, my responsibility is to help my team achieve good results. Whether I score or provide an assist, to me it is the same,” Mpanzu said.
“There are times I haven’t used my chances well. I can say maybe luck wasn’t on my side, but I believe everything will fall into place,” he added.
This season, Mpanzu has scored one goal in the preliminary rounds of the CAF Champions League and provided three assists in the NBC Premier League.
There is little doubt that the Congolese star will return even stronger after the break for the AFCON 2025 tournament, which kicks off this weekend in Morocco.
