Despite initially requesting to leave in order to seek a new challenge elsewhere, the Simba SC management has reached an agreement to retain coach Suleiman Matola within the team. In addition, the club has prepared a plan to send the coach abroad to further enhance his coaching skills.
Information from within the club’s leadership reveals that after intense discussions involving members of a meeting that brought together Simba’s Board of Directors and other senior officials, it was decided that Matola will remain as an assistant coach.
However, should the new head coach arrive with an entirely new technical bench, Matola will be assigned to oversee the Women’s and Youth teams. In that role, he will also be given an opportunity to travel abroad to gain more experience at one of Simba’s partner clubs.
“If the coach says he wants to work with him, he will remain as an assistant coach in his current position for a long time. But if he says he wants to come with a completely new technical bench, that will mean Matola will return to his former role of supervising the Youth and Women’s teams,” the source said.
“While handling the youth and women’s teams, Matola will be sent abroad to further his coaching education for a period of six months at a club either in Germany or Asia, where he will coach and study. Upon his return, he will then become Simba’s official head coach,” the source added, emphasizing;
“This decision is based on the fact that Matola is our own product. He played effectively for the club as captain and for a long time has been a coach trained by the club. It is difficult to let him go outright, especially considering that he still has a contract until the end of the season.”
