Simba Sports Club Board Member, Azim Dewji, has stated that as the team heads into the group stage of the CAF Champions League, Simba is well-prepared to reach the quarterfinals.
Azim highlighted that experience, the quality of the squad, and effective use of their home ground are key factors driving Simba’s determination to maintain their dominance in the CAF competition, where they have set a record by reaching the group stage seven times.
Following the group stage draw held in South Africa, Simba was placed in Group D alongside Esperance, Petro Atlético, and Stade Malien. Dewji confirmed that preparations for the tournament have begun immediately, with the main objective being to advance to the quarterfinals.
“We’ve seen the fixture list and we’re satisfied with it. We can’t say it’s very easy, but we want to prepare well for these matches. Every team that has reached this stage is strong, so we must be well-prepared to face them,” he said.
“Everyone in Africa knows how strong Simba is at home. It’s not easy to beat us here. We have fans who know how to fight for their team and a solid squad that understands the value of playing at home. Every team that comes here knows how tough it is to face us.”
“This time, we want to do even better. We want to win even in away matches — all three of them. Our goal is to finish at the top of the group and qualify for the quarterfinals.”

The Simba squad has returned to training to prepare for their first two group matches against Petro Atlético and Stade Malien. Before that, the team will face JKT Tanzania in a Premier League match scheduled for Saturday, November 8, at Major General Isamuhyo Stadium.
