Despite guiding Simba to a 3–0 win over Nsingizini Hotspurs yesterday and putting the team in a strong position to qualify for the CAF Champions League group stage, Simba coach Dimitar Pantev says his side has still not played at the level of quality he demands.
Wilson Nangu’s first-half goal and a Kibu Denis brace in the second half sank Nsingizini Hotspurs on their own turf.
“A 3–0 win is a very good result, but I think we need to be more confident when we have the ball, and we must maintain tactical discipline.”
“There were moments we lost concentration and allowed Nsingizini Hotspurs to control the game — we copied their style and started playing long balls.”
“But in the second half when we opened up the game and exploited spaces between the centre-backs and wingers, I think we were more successful.”
“I want to congratulate all my players — their spirit and morale in this match were high. We needed to win today to reduce the pressure ahead of the return leg.”
“We must respect our opponents, but I think we will have room to rotate in the second game, especially considering we have consecutive matches coming up in a short period,” Pantev said.
