After conceding five goals in two friendly matches, Simba head coach Dimitar Pentev has outlined his strategic plan to strengthen the teamβs defense.
Simba played two friendly matches against Al Hilal, winning the first 2β1 before suffering a 4β1 defeat in the second encounter.
During ongoing training sessions at Mo Simba Arena, Pentev has been seen emphasizing defensive structure and giving detailed instructions on how he wants his players to perform when the team does not have possession.
The Bulgarian coach prefers a 4-3-3 formation and encourages his players to play collectively β both with and without the ball β a style he describes as βtotal football.β
Pentev said the matches against Al Hilal have given him a clear understanding of what needs improvement and which players best fit into his tactical system.
βWe need to have a team that plays in an organized way β attacking with precision and defending as a unit. These matches have helped me identify who is ready to fight for the Simba badge. I believe everything will soon fall into place,β said Pentev.
Simba are finalizing their preparations today before traveling to Eswatini tomorrow (Thursday) for their CAF Champions League first-leg qualifying match against Nsingizini Hotspurs.
The first leg will be played on Sunday, October 19, with the return leg scheduled a week later in Dar es Salaam.
