The name of former Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has emerged among those being linked with the vacant head coach position at Simba SC.
Simba is currently in the process of appointing a new coach, with reports indicating that the official announcement will be made this week. The incoming coach is expected to immediately take charge of preparations for the CAF Champions League tie against Nsingizini Hotspurs, scheduled for October 16–18 in Eswatini, with the return leg a week later in Dar es Salaam.
Sources suggest that Nabi has already been in Tanzania for more than three days, with his visit strongly connected to final-stage negotiations with the Msimbazi Reds.
However, Simba’s Media and Communications Manager, Ahmed Ali, declined to confirm the rumors, stating that he had not yet received official information from the club’s leadership.
In his remarks, though, Ahmed hinted that there could be something ongoing between Simba and the Tunisian tactician, who previously led rivals Yanga SC to two consecutive league titles and a CAF Confederation Cup final.
“My brothers in the media, regarding Nabi coaching Simba SC, I don’t know anything official. What I do know is that he is a good coach with vast experience, and he did a great job in this league,” said Ahmed.
“He won two trophies, so he is not a coach to be underrated. His ability is undeniable. If he is in Dar, I can’t confirm that, but if I knew for sure that he was coming to coach Simba SC, I wouldn’t hide it from you.”
If Simba does hand Nabi the reins, it would mark his return to Tanzania and place him among the rare group of coaches who have managed both Simba and Yanga—two of the country’s most historic rivals.
