The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has banned Simba SC from hosting fans in the second leg of their preliminary round CAF Champions League tie against Gaborone United, scheduled for September 27 at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.
According to CAF’s statement, the punishment stems from crowd trouble that occurred during last season’s CAF Confederation Cup match against CS Sfaxien.
After serving this sanction, Simba will remain under close monitoring, and if similar incidents reoccur, the club could face even harsher penalties.
This comes as bad news for Simba fans, who will now be forced to follow their team’s crucial tie against Gaborone United on television instead of cheering them on from the stands at Mkapa.
