The League Board has made amendments to the competition regulations for the 2025/26 season, including the rules governing the Community Shield, a match traditionally played before the start of the season.
The amendments abolish the format where the Community Shield was contested by four teams and reinstate the previous system.
The Community Shield will now be contested between the Premier League champion and the CRDB Federation Cup (FA Cup) winner.
If the Premier League champion is also the FA Cup winner, then the league champion and the league runner-up will play a single Community Shield match.
With these changes, we might witness an early Kariakoo Derby clash between Simba and Yanga.
According to the TPLB calendar, the Community Shield will be played between September 11β14 this year.
