After failing in their attempt to sign attacking midfielder Feisal Salum from Azam FC, Simba SC have turned their attention back to Uganda national team star Allan Okello, it has emerged.
Okello has been in outstanding form in the ongoing 2024 CHAN tournament being held across Tanzania, Uganda, and Kenya, leading Uganda Cranes, who currently top Group C, which is based in Uganda.
The midfielder has scored two goals, placing him among the tournament's top scorers.
Simba had tried to sign the player in the previous January transfer window but failed to reach an agreement with his club, Vipers FC.
Okello now has one year left on his contract with Vipers FC, and the club has openly stated they are willing to listen to offers for the 25-year-old star.
After missing out on Feisal, inside sources reveal that Simba are moving quickly to open talks with Vipers for the midfielder.
Head coach Fadlu Davids still wants to strengthen his attacking midfield options despite having already signed Morice Abraham and Neo Maema, who can also play as wingers.
The Msimbazi Redsβ management is closely monitoring Okello, and his current form increases the likelihood of seeing him in Simbaβs red jersey in the near future.
