Simba SC fans were left stunned yesterday after their captain, Mohammed Hussein ‘Zimbwe Jr’, removed all references to being a Simba player from his Instagram profile.
This move has sparked major uncertainty regarding his future at the club, especially since his contract has officially expired. Zimbwe Jr is currently in camp with the national team in Egypt, preparing for the upcoming CHAN tournament.
According to available reports, Simba had already initiated preliminary discussions with Zimbwe Jr about renewing his contract. The only pending step was the player’s signature, as he had requested to finalize the process after the season ended. However, the situation took an unexpected turn after a dispute emerged between his agent and Simba’s management, which has now stalled the signing of a new contract.
It is alleged that Zimbwe Jr’s agent is claiming a longstanding financial debt from Simba, a claim the club’s leadership contests. Due to this unresolved issue, the captain has refused to extend his contract until the matter is resolved. His decision to present himself as a free agent on social media is seen as a clear signal that he is open to offers from other clubs if Simba does not address the dispute promptly.
Nevertheless, a source close to Zimbwe Jr confirmed that he has not yet finalized talks with any other club. Despite the uncertainty, Zimbwe Jr’s intention remains to continue playing for Simba—provided his agent’s concerns are resolved.
From Simba’s side, indications suggest the club is not planning to release the left-back. The recent departure of Valentine Nouma, his partner in defense, further highlights Simba’s need for Zimbwe Jr’s services.
