Coastal does not have the authority to terminate Lawi contract - Majembe

Lawyer Nduruma Majembe, has opened Simba's case that was sent to the Committee on Laws and Players' Status regarding the breach of contract with the Coastal Union to sign defender Lameck Lawi, saying that the team did not have that authority as they should have been sent to the Football Federation in the country which is with the authority to interpret the law

Speaking in the city of Dar es Salaam about the saga that was discussed the other day at the TFF Offices, Nduruma, said they believe Coastal did not do the right thing, because they do not have that ability, but they would send it to special bodies and not them to decide about the player's issue

Simba signed Lawi who is a central defender and as soon as he was announced, Coastal Union leaders emerged and claimed that the club violated the agreement which is to pay money before the last day specified in the contract

He said the football contract, if there are things done, they cannot be canceled according to CAF and Fifa Rules, where if the contract is entered into, it will already be completed, and the payment has its place

"This is not like a contract to sell chickens or goats where if you don't bring money tomorrow then it is broken, there is no such thing, football contracts have their procedures. If someone has not paid for 30 days then it becomes a problem, and even then it is necessary write a notice, and after that 10 days after it is given, the club must complete the payment, that's the procedure," said the lawyer who once managed the case of Bernald Morrison against the Yanga Club several years ago

He said the point on the table is Coastal terminating Lawi's contract to play for Simba whether it is legal or not

"I don't think that Coastal complained about being introduced, but it is that the club's money had to be paid by May 31, and at that time the league was still going on, when they signed it was agreed that when the league ends, they should send him to be tested, their complaint is that Simba delayed more payments of that date, took place on June 10

"Simba said they were late because they were waiting for him to undergo tests, if it is one of the contractual obligations, it was not possible because he was called to the Taifa Stars squad, but later Simba paid without it being implemented," he said and added< /em>

"The evidence shows that until June 3, Simba and Coastal were continuing negotiations. When it was paid, on the 17th, they wrote a letter to terminate the contract, which is 10 days after receiving all the money."

He pointed out that Coastal did not do all that they were supposed to do, and even if it was otherwise, they should have sent the TFF advice to the relevant committee and not stop the player and claim to break the contract, something they have no authority to do
