Last season, Yanga played their home matches in the CAF Champions League (CAFCL) group stage at New Amaan Complex in Zanzibar. Reports from within the club indicate that Yanga are planning to use the same venue again this season.
With Benjamin Mkapa Stadium closed, Uhuru Stadium is the only other venue that meets CAF requirements for hosting matches from the group stage onwards.
Azam Complex, which Yanga used during the preliminary rounds, does not meet the required standards.
However, with their arch-rivals Simba having selected Uhuru Stadium as their home venue for both league and Champions League matches, it is clear that the two giants will not share the same stadium.
Furthermore, with four Tanzanian teams having qualified for the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup group stages, other clubs will likely need to select alternative venues to reduce the burden on Uhuru Stadium.
New Amaan Complex is now ready to host matches again following the completion of renovation work.
