Yanga SC fans have received fresh hope over the return of their attacking midfielder, Pacome Zouazoua, following reports that he is making good progress in his recovery from an injury that has kept him out of action since June.
Yanga's Media and Communications Manager, Ali Kamwe, has revealed that the Ivory Coast star is improving steadily and could begin light training before January, provided he continues to make good progress with his rehabilitation programme.
Speaking about the player's recovery, Kamwe said Pacome is now doing well enough to be seen at the stadium supporting his teammates during matches and occasionally visiting training sessions.
"Pacome is doing very well. You can now see him coming to the stadium to watch his teammates fight for the Yanga badge, and sometimes he also visits training," Kamwe said.
He added that the player is expected to begin the second phase of his rehabilitation programme soon. Once completed, he will be cleared to start light training aimed at restoring his leg to full functional fitness.
"He will soon begin the second phase of his rehabilitation programme. Once that programme is completed, he will officially start light training to restore his leg to full fitness," Kamwe explained.
Pacome has been sidelined since June after sustaining a serious injury that required surgery.
His absence has been a major blow to Yanga because of his significant contribution in attack, particularly his ability to create chances, play with pace, break through opposition defences and score goals.
Nevertheless, the progress he is making in his recovery has raised hopes among the club's technical bench and supporters.
Pacome is among the players who have won the affection of Yanga fans through his performances and contribution to the team.
Given his importance, his return would provide a significant boost to the club as they pursue silverware this season.
