Yanga interim head coach Simo Dladla says his team must improve its finishing despite collecting all three points in their NBC Mainland Premier League match against Mashujaa FC.
Speaking after yesterday’s 2-1 victory at KMC Complex, Dladla said Mashujaa FC’s early goal made the match difficult for Yanga, as their opponents changed their tactics and focused more on defending to keep the Wananchi’s attacks at bay.
He explained that as Yanga pushed for an equaliser, the pressure to get back on level terms contributed to the team’s failure to make proper use of the chances it created in front of the opposition goal.
The coach also revealed that injuries to some players forced him to make substitutions that affected the flow of the match, particularly in the second half.
According to Dladla, the situation made it more difficult for Yanga to execute their game plan, although the team continued fighting for a positive result.
Despite these challenges, Dladla said he was satisfied with the three points his team secured, emphasising that the victory was important for Yanga.
However, he pointed out that more work is needed on finishing to ensure the team makes better use of its chances and avoids putting itself under unnecessary pressure during matches.
Dladla believes the quality of Yanga’s squad contributed to the victory, but stressed the importance of improving their efficiency in front of goal to make the team even stronger in upcoming matches.
