Yanga SC Media and Communications Manager Ali Kamwe has said the club’s leadership has confidence in head coach Manqoba Mngqithi and has no plans to part ways with him, despite differing opinions among fans about the team’s performances.
Kamwe stressed that Yanga’s leadership understands its objectives and conducts a thorough assessment before making any decisions concerning the technical bench.
Speaking about the team’s situation, Kamwe reassured fans and members that the club’s ambitions remain in safe hands and that coach Manqoba continues to be given the opportunity to carry out his duties.
“We are not foolish. We listen to our fans’ opinions, but the leadership also conducts a thorough assessment before taking any action,” Kamwe said.
He added that the leadership currently sees no reason to part ways with the coach, explaining that it still believes in the plans it has put in place.
“We know what we need, and so far, we do not believe our objectives have been derailed. So, let me assure you that coach Manqoba is here to stay at Yanga,” he said.
Yanga Focus on Building a Strong Team
Kamwe said Yanga’s current strategy is to build a strong team capable of performing well in both domestic and international competitions.
He explained that, as part of this plan, the technical bench has been making changes to the line-up from one match to another to give players opportunities and ensure the team remains competitive in different circumstances.
According to Kamwe, it is important to distinguish between having a good squad and building a strong team capable of withstanding the challenges of an entire season.
“I am telling you that this season, the title will be decided by the team with the strongest squad. Our technical bench is working to ensure we have a strong team. That is why you will see frequent changes to the line-up, yet we have continued to perform well,” Kamwe said.
To further explain Manqoba’s approach to rotating players in the starting line-up, Kamwe cited Yanga’s two matches against CFFA, noting that the team scored four goals in each game despite fielding different line-ups.
“Look at the line-up that played in the first match against CFFA and the one that played in the second match. Both scored four goals,” he said.
Kamwe suggested that the benefits of this strategy would become more evident as the season progresses, expressing confidence that fans would come to understand the reasons behind the technical bench’s frequent changes.
Coach Manqoba Mngqithi has continued to employ a rotation system, which involves changing some players in the starting line-up depending on the demands of each match.
The approach aims to give more players playing time, maintain competition within the squad and ensure the team has sufficient options throughout the season.
Although some fans may have differing opinions about these changes, Yanga’s leadership appears to support the approach, believing that building a strong team is an important part of achieving the club’s objectives.
