Yanga right-back Yao Kouassi Attohoula has urged the club’s supporters not to lose faith in the team, calling on them to maintain unity and solidarity following their first defeat of the season against traditional rivals Simba SC.
Yanga lost the Kariakoo Derby 2-1 to Simba in a match played on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Uhuru Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
The result ended Yanga’s perfect start to the NBC Premier League season, having won all six of their opening matches.
In a message posted on his social media account, Yao acknowledged the pain caused by the defeat but stressed that losing is part of football. He added that the team was now fully focused on learning from its mistakes and improving.
"Defeat hurts, but it is part of the game. Yesterday is behind us. We have acknowledged our mistakes so that we can learn from them and perform better. Let us not lose hope as long as we are still breathing. Let us remain united, stand together and fight as one," Yao said.
Yanga are expected to return to training today to begin preparations for their CAF Champions League match against CFFA, scheduled for Saturday, October 17, at Azam Complex.
