The Tanzania Premier League Board (TPLB) has reinforced the use of specialised gas detectors in players’ dressing rooms during Mainland Premier League matches.
In a public statement issued on October 9, 2026, TPLB said the devices would be used to inspect dressing rooms to ensure air quality and protect the safety of players, technical staff and team officials.
According to the statement, inspections will begin as soon as dressing rooms are handed over to the respective teams and will continue until the match is completed. The measure is intended to detect oxygen levels and any unusual gases that could pose a risk to the health and safety of those using the facilities.
TPLB said the use of the devices began on October 8, 2026, as part of security procedures being implemented at all stadiums across the country that host league matches.
The board explained that the measure is intended to ensure dressing rooms provide a safe and suitable environment for teams, with players’ health and safety given priority.
TPLB also emphasised that it would continue working with various stakeholders to ensure Mainland Premier League matches are played in safe environments and in compliance with the required safety procedures and standards.
The measure comes as the board continues to strengthen stadium safety oversight to protect the health of players, technical staff and other football stakeholders across the country.
