Former Yanga attacking midfielder Celestin Ecua has resurfaced in Saudi Arabia after joining Al-Shoulla FC, who compete in the Saudi Arabian Second Division.
The move opens a new chapter in Ecua’s football career following a short and challenging spell at Yanga, where he arrived with high expectations but failed to secure a regular place in the Tanzania champions’ squad.
Ecua, a Chad international, joined Yanga in 2025 from Ivorian football, where he had impressed and attracted interest from clubs with his attacking ability.
However, things did not go as expected at Yanga. During his roughly six-month spell, he made eight appearances and scored one goal before the club sent him on loan to Algerian side JS Kabylie during the January 2026 mid-season transfer window.
The decision came after Ecua struggled to establish himself as a regular in Yanga’s squad. At JS Kabylie, the challenges continued, as he made 10 appearances but started only three matches, playing a total of 283 minutes and providing one assist without scoring.
JS Kabylie opted not to exercise the option to sign the player permanently, citing his performances, while Yanga also decided to part ways with him.
Ecua has now found a new destination in Saudi Arabia, where he will wear the Al-Shoulla shirt and begin another chapter in an attempt to revive his football career.
