Winger Erick Mwijage impressed in yesterday’s international friendly as Yanga SC defeated Ethiopia’s St George 1-0 at Uhuru Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
The friendly encounter, which served to maintain the strong relationship between the two clubs, saw Mwijage showcase his quality in ball control, dribbling and chance creation, making him one of the standout attractions for the fans who turned up at Uhuru Stadium.
Yanga scored the only goal of the match through attacking midfielder Albert Kangwanda, who finished from a pass by Maxi Nzengeli in the 60th minute.
After the match, Erick Mwijage’s impressive performance earned him plenty of praise from Yanga’s Communications and Media Manager, Ally Kamwe, who officially stated that the winger has a place in the squad for their upcoming NBC Premier League clash against Simba, scheduled for October 10, 2026.
Mwijage himself explained that the secret behind his impressive performance is hard work in training, as well as listening to instructions from the technical bench and guidance from his more experienced teammates.
