While Yanga SC supporters celebrated the club's fifth consecutive Tanzania Mainland Premier League title yesterday, the club also continues to hold an impressive record in the CRDB Cup since the competition was revived in 2015.
After being suspended in 2003, the tournament returned in 2015, with Yanga marking its comeback by defeating Azam FC 3-1 in the final to lift the trophy.
Over the past 10 editions of the competition, Yanga have won the CRDB Cup five times, including a remarkable run of four consecutive titles.
Their arch-rivals Simba SC, who held a victory parade today after winning this season's title, have lifted the trophy four times.
Azam FC have won the competition once, while Mtibwa Sugar have also claimed the title on one occasion.
After surrendering the trophy this season, Yanga have vowed to reclaim the CRDB Cup and bring it back to Jangwani next season.
