Head of Communications at Azam FC, Thabit Zacharia—popularly known as Zakazakazi—has opened up on the reasons why the club cannot sell attacking midfielder Feisal Salum “Fei Toto” to Simba SC.
In a special interview, Zakazakazi stated that Azam FC cannot transfer Feisal to Simba due to a special clause in the agreement signed with Yanga SC when the player was initially signed from them.
"We can't sell Feisal to Simba because I don’t think Simba have the money to buy him," he said.
Zakazakazi revealed that when Azam signed Feisal from Yanga SC, they agreed that if Azam ever sold the player to Simba, they would have to pay Yanga a compensation fee of 1 billion Tanzanian shillings.
"When we signed Feisal from Yanga, there was a contractual agreement that if we sell him to Simba, we must pay Yanga TZS 1 billion," he disclosed.
He added that for the transfer to go through, Simba would need to offer a very high fee that would allow Azam to profit even after paying the compensation—something that seems unlikely.
"So how much will Simba pay for this to be a viable deal? We're not ready to pay Yanga 1 billion if the offer is small. Also, Simba must offer a fee that gives us more than Yanga," he emphasized.
Despite ongoing rumors online about Fei Toto’s possible move to Simba, Zakazakazi confirmed that Azam FC has not received any official offer from Simba.
Yanga SC had the better chance to re-sign Feisal, but they dropped that plan after completing the signing of attacking midfielder Lassine Kouma, who is considered more skilled in the number 10 role.
