It has been revealed that Simba SC made significant efforts to sign some of Yanga SC’s star players in an attempt to calm their fanbase during the ongoing transfer window.
The first attempt reportedly targeted midfielder Mudathir Yahya, with Yanga’s spokesperson Ali Kamwe disclosing that Simba representatives went as far as visiting his home in Zanzibar to convince him.
However, the effort proved unsuccessful after Mudathir opted to extend his contract with Yanga. Similar attempts were made to lure other Yanga stars whose contracts had expired — including Pacome Zouzoua, Maxi Nzengeli, and Dickson Job.
Yanga’s leadership remained firm, ensuring that all their key first-team players with expiring contracts remained at the club. The club first secured Mudathir, followed by Pacome, and continued with renewals for Maxi Nzengeli, Dickson Job, and Duke Abuya.
It’s fair to say that in this transfer window, Simba has had little to celebrate, as Yanga not only retained all their essential players but also managed to beat Simba to several targets — including luring away Simba’s captain Mohammed Hussein 'Zimbwe Jr'.
Pressure is now mounting on Simba to retain Elie Mpanzu, with reports indicating that Yanga has already submitted a substantial offer to sign him.
Meanwhile, Yanga’s media officer Ali Kamwe has hinted at a major upcoming player unveiling, teasing that it will cause further disruption for their rivals.
