Simba SC spokesperson Ahmed Ally has urged the club’s supporters to turn up in large numbers and enjoy the upcoming match, describing it as a day of celebration rather than pressure.
“You don’t need to feel any pressure at all because this is a day of enjoyment. We have come a long way, my brothers. We have endured a lot. This year is for happiness and entertainment, so how can you stay at home? This match is different.
I will be very happy, and the players will also be happy, to see you come out and support us,” Ahmed Ally said.
Explaining why Ibrahim Doumbia was selected as the guest of honour, Ahmed said the decision was based on the striker’s difficult journey and the challenges he has faced, including criticism, while some Simba supporters continued to believe in him.
“Why Doumbia? It is because of the long journey he has been through. He is a player who has faced harsh criticism and gone through many challenges, but there are Simba fans who never gave up on him.
Because of the great work he did yesterday, scoring two goals, we have decided to make him the guest of honour,” he explained.
Ahmed further revealed that Doumbia would have a special moment during the team’s entrance onto the pitch, with the striker being the last player to enter the field.
Supporters will be expected to stand and applaud him as he makes his entrance.
He also reminded Simba fans that newly signed players develop at different rates, citing Nathaniel Chilambo as an example of a player who started performing well immediately, while Doumbia needed more time to find his feet.
“Some players start performing well immediately, like Nathaniel Chilambo, while others take time to settle and perform, and that is where Ibrahim Doumbia comes in. Some players start from the bottom, and it is our responsibility to fight for them and support them,” Ahmed Ally concluded.
