Young Africans SC defender Israel Mwenda is close to rejoining the squad after his dispute with the club’s management was resolved, according to Yanga’s Head of Information and Communications, Ally Kamwe.
Kamwe said Mwenda could return to the squad at any time from now following discussions between the two parties. The Tanzania Football Players Association (SPATA) was also reported to have been involved in efforts to resolve the dispute.
Mwenda has been out of the squad for some time because of the dispute, causing him to miss the early stages of Yanga’s 2026/27 season. However, Kamwe’s statement signals the possibility of the defender returning to the team’s plans following the resolution of the differences.
If his return is confirmed, Yanga will have more options in defence as they prepare for upcoming Tanzanian Premier League fixtures and other competitions. However, the date of his return to training or competitive action has not yet been announced.
