Yanga SC, in partnership with Safari Lager, have officially launched the third edition of the Safari Lager Cup, a campaign aimed at identifying and developing football talent across Tanzania.
The campaign continues to form part of efforts to provide opportunities for talented young footballers who have yet to get the chance to showcase their abilities at higher levels of competition.
This season, the Safari Lager Cup will be held in four regions—Dar es Salaam, Mbeya, Mwanza and Arusha—giving young players from these areas an opportunity to demonstrate their abilities in front of various stakeholders involved in the development of football.
Players Aged 18 to 23 Targeted
The competition targets players aged between 18 and 23 who have never had the opportunity to play competitive football at higher levels.
The aim is to open doors for these young players so their talents can be identified and they can have an opportunity to continue their journey in competitive football.
Speaking during the launch, Yanga SC Chief Executive Officer Andre Mtine said the Safari Lager Cup is part of the club’s strategy to invest more heavily in youth football.
According to Mtine, the competition could help young players fulfil their dreams of becoming professional footballers, with Yanga ready to keep an eye on those who demonstrate outstanding ability.
Players who perform well in the competition will have the opportunity to be assessed by Yanga SC coaches, with some potentially earning the chance to join the club’s youth team.
For Safari Lager, the campaign’s main sponsor, the company has reaffirmed its commitment to continuing to support the development of sports in Tanzania.
Young players have been encouraged to turn out in large numbers and register their teams through the respective regional football association offices to get the opportunity to showcase their talents.
