Simba Queens patron Fatema Dewji has continued to demonstrate her commitment to the development of women’s football in Tanzania after rewarding the team with TZS 20 million and an LG television following their Women’s Community Shield victory over JKT Queens.
Simba Queens won the title after defeating JKT Queens 1-0, with the reward, provided in partnership with MeTL Group, aimed at recognising the efforts of the players, technical bench and everyone who contributed to the team’s success.
During the competition alone, more than TZS 40 million was spent supporting and rewarding Simba Queens.
Since Fatema Dewji became Simba Queens’ patron in 2021, the team has continued to make significant progress both in Tanzania and beyond.
Simba Queens have won the Tanzanian Women’s Premier League title four times, including the 2025/26 season, when they finished with 57 points.
Another major milestone came in 2022 when Simba Queens won the CECAFA title and qualified for the CAF Women’s Champions League after winning all five of their qualifying matches, scoring 18 goals and conceding just one.
The team later represented Tanzania at the CAF Women’s Champions League in Morocco, where, in their very first appearance, they reached the semi-finals and finished fourth in Africa.
For Fatema Dewji, Simba Queens’ success goes beyond winning trophies.
It is part of a broader commitment to giving women the opportunity to showcase their talent and ensuring that women’s football receives the recognition, investment and support it deserves.
She has also called on football fans across the country to go beyond club loyalties and turn up at stadiums to support women’s teams.
