The family of the late Yanga SC member and renowned supporter, Haji Omari Ramadhani Mpili, has expressed gratitude to the club’s president for the support and care he provided to the deceased during his illness until his passing. The appreciation was conveyed by Mpili’s son during his father’s funeral in Ikwiriri, Pwani Region.
Mzee Mpili passed away on the night of Sunday, September 27, 2026, at Ikwiriri District Health Centre, where he was receiving treatment. His funeral was held on Monday, September 28, at the Main Mosque Cemetery in Ikwiriri.
Several Yanga officials attended the funeral to pay their final respects, including Executive Committee Member Alexander Ngai, Chief Executive Officer Andre Mtine and Head of Information and Communications Ally Kamwe. Hundreds of residents, together with Yanga, Simba and Azam supporters, also attended the funeral.
Speaking after the burial, Ngai said Mzee Mpili was a dedicated Yanga member who supported and fought for the club throughout his life. The club also contributed TSh 1.1 million in funeral support, while a group of Black Card members handed over TSh 3 million to the bereaved family.
