Tanzania national teams spokesperson Haji Manara has called for efforts to restore the enthusiasm of football fans in stadiums, saying the decline in attendance is a challenge that requires closer cooperation between teams, media officers and supporters.
Manara said that as Tanzania prepares for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which the country will co-host with Kenya and Uganda, it is important for Tanzanians to turn out in large numbers to support the national teams as well as local clubs representing the country in international competitions.
He stressed that fan enthusiasm is an important part of the football environment, as well-attended stadiums create greater excitement and provide stronger support for players. He also noted that media officers and other football stakeholders have a role to play in encouraging the public to continue following and supporting the national teams.
Manara continues to carry out his responsibilities in promoting sports in Tanzania, taking part in various sporting activities and encouraging the public to use sport as an opportunity to nurture talent and contribute to development.
