After putting on the courage to take the penalty against Asec Mimosas, Simba defender Shomari Kapombe said he had done work on training
In the group stage match played at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium over the weekend with Simba winning 3-1, all players seemed to evade responsibility after the referee awarded a penalty kick after Yusuph Mhilu fouled in the penalty area, Kapombe decided to come out and score the penalty kick that gave them the second goal when the result was 1-1.
Since the start of this season, many Simba players have missed penalties, including Larry Bwalya, John Bocco, Erasto Nyoni, Meddie Kagere and Chris Mugalu.
Kapombe noted that every day after regular training there is a time for penalty kicks and that was what gave him the courage to go and carry that responsibility.
He said since the start of this season they have been plagued by a huge lack of penalties in their squad and that given them had time, it was not an easy decision for him to go and take on that role.
"We train penalty shooting every day, we had to score the penalty because the time was runing out"
