NBC Premier League champions Simba SC are just a few steps away from securing qualification for the CAF group stage for the eighth time in their history, with the club’s Media and Communications Manager, Ahmed Ally, insisting that “the job is not finished” ahead of Sunday’s return leg against FC 15 de Agosto on October 25, 2026.
The development follows Simba’s emphatic 6-1 victory in the first leg, played in Dar es Salaam on Wednesday, October 21.
Ahmed has urged supporters to turn out in large numbers this Sunday to witness their team secure a convincing passage into the group stage and extend their remarkable record in African football.
“We have a proud record in this competition, and we are heading into this match to make history by reaching the group stage for the eighth time. The first-leg result demonstrates our strength, but on Sunday, we are not going out to defend our six-goal advantage. We are going out to attack and entertain our fans,” Ahmed said.
Since Simba’s honorary president and billionaire investor Mohamed Dewji, popularly known as ‘Mo’, began investing in the club, the Msimbazi Reds have built an impressive record, qualifying for the CAF Champions League group stage six times and the CAF Confederation Cup group stage twice during his tenure.
Ahmed boasted that no other club in the East African region has a more impressive record than Simba in CAF competitions.
