The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has changed the referee appointed to officiate the first-leg CAF Champions League match between FC 15 de Agosto and Simba SC, scheduled for Wednesday, October 21, in Dar es Salaam.
Mauritian referee Ahmad Imtehaz Heeralall, who had initially been appointed to take charge of the match, has been unable to travel to Tanzania, prompting CAF to appoint Egyptian referee Amin Mohamed Omar as his replacement.
According to reports, Omar has already departed Cairo, Egypt, and is travelling to Tanzania to prepare for the important continental fixture.
The change comes as Simba continue their preparations to face FC 15 de Agosto in the battle to qualify for the CAF Champions League group stage.
For Simba, the match is crucial in laying a strong foundation ahead of the return leg, with the technical bench and players expected to make the most of the opportunity to play in front of their fans in the second match and secure qualification for the group stage.
