Simba SC has announced plans to install a big screen in Mwembeyanga for fans to watch their CAF Champions League match against FC 15 de Agosto, scheduled for Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Uhuru Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
The move comes after FC 15 de Agosto refused to allow fans into the stadium for the first leg of the second qualifying round, prompting Simba’s main sponsor, Betway Tanzania, to offer to organise a special gathering for the club’s supporters.
Simba’s Media and Communications Manager, Ahmed Ally, said the club had tried through official channels to persuade the opponents to allow fans into the stadium, but the request was rejected.
“After FC 15 de Agosto refused to allow fans in, our main sponsor, Betway Tanzania, said, ‘My people, don’t just sit around on your own; I will do something for Simba Sports Club.’ They have arranged a big screen that will be set up here in Mwembeyanga,” Ahmed said.
Free Entry, Entertainment and Prizes
Ahmed said entry to the event in Mwembeyanga would be free, with fans required to wear Simba’s new jersey for the current season, which he said has been reduced in price to TSh 25,000.
The event will feature performances by artists King Faida, Msaka Daily and Mczo Morfan, alongside DJs Sinyorita and Samio Love. There will also be games with prizes, including a Simba jersey signed by Elie Mpanzu.
Before the international match, fans will have an opportunity to watch highlights of the Kariakoo Derby played on October 10, followed by analysis. Activities are expected to begin at 10:00 a.m.
Simba Must Not Underestimate 15 de Agosto – Ahmed
Despite playing the first leg at home, Ahmed stressed that Simba must not take the Equatorial Guinean side lightly, noting that their opponents are highly determined to qualify for the group stage.
“Playing at home alone does not guarantee victory; what matters is your preparation and quality. Let me tell Simba fans: let us go out and fight for our Simba,” Ahmed said.
He added that Simba’s ambitions this season extend beyond domestic success, emphasising that the club is targeting strong performances in African competitions.
Sakuru Calls on Simba Fans to Turn Out
Meanwhile, Simba Chief Executive Officer Zubeda Sakuru thanked the fans and sponsor Betway for their continued support, adding that both the management and the squad were prepared for the upcoming match.
“I urge you all to turn out in large numbers the day after tomorrow to watch the match here. Tickets for Sunday’s game will also be sold here,” Zubeda said.
Simba are scheduled to play the return leg on Sunday, October 25, 2026, at Uhuru Stadium. The club is counting on strong support from its fans to help propel the team towards qualification for the group stage.
