Simba SC attacking midfielder Anicet Oura has declared that the team are ready to extend their winning run in continental competitions, believing their recent positive results have boosted the players' morale and confidence ahead of their clash against Equatorial Guinea's 15 de Agosto.
Simba are scheduled to face 15 de Agosto on October 20 in the first leg of their CAF Champions League qualifying tie at Uhuru Stadium in Dar es Salaam, with the Msimbazi Reds aiming to start their campaign with a positive result.
Oura said the 2-0 victory over Azam FC and the 2-1 win against their traditional rivals, Yanga, have strengthened the squad's belief that they can perform well against international opponents too.
According to the winger, those results have helped strengthen unity and fighting spirit within the squad, although they recognise that the match against 15 de Agosto will not be easy.
"Winning consecutive matches, including the derby, has boosted our morale and confidence. We know the match against 15 de Agosto will be tough, but we believe we will perform well," Oura said.
Beyond the quality Simba have shown in their recent matches, Oura believes playing both legs of the tie in Tanzania presents an important opportunity for the team, particularly because they could receive strong support from their fans.
He said the home environment could give the players an additional boost, allowing them to make the most of their supporters' backing as they seek results that will put them in a strong position to advance.
"Another advantage for us is that both the first leg and the return leg will be played in Tanzania. That makes us feel at home, where we will have tremendous support from our fans," he added.
