Simba SC chairman Murtaza Mangungu has said his team had the ability to score 10 goals against Yanga in the Kariakoo Derby if their players had been more clinical in front of goal.
Mangungu made the remarks after Simba secured a 2-1 victory over their traditional rivals, Yanga, in a fiercely contested derby.
Carried in celebration by jubilant Simba fans after the final whistle, Mangungu said his team created enough opportunities to score more goals, but a lack of composure in front of goal meant they won by just a single-goal margin.
"I can tell you that many of the matches we lost in the past were due to strange circumstances, but today we have demonstrated our quality and perhaps we should have scored many more goals."
"I believe our team is good and will continue to improve and perform well in all competitions this season," he said.
The victory sent Simba to the top of the league standings, maintaining their 100 per cent winning record after winning all seven of their matches.
Meanwhile, Simba head coach Steve Barker extended his impressive run dating back to last season, recording his 17th consecutive league victory.
