The Tanzania Premier League Board (TPLB) has strengthened measures to ensure the safety of players’ dressing rooms by reinforcing the use of specialised air-quality testing devices known as gas detectors during Mainland Premier League matches.
In a public statement issued on October 9, 2026, TPLB explained that the devices would be used to inspect dressing rooms and ensure safe conditions for players, technical staff and team officials.
According to the statement, inspections will begin as soon as the dressing rooms are handed over to the respective teams and will continue until the match is completed. The aim is to detect the presence of gases or unusual air conditions that could threaten the health and safety of those using the facilities.
The Devices Are Now in Use
TPLB said the devices began being used on October 8, 2026, as part of safety procedures being implemented at all stadiums across the country that host league matches.
The measure is intended to ensure that dressing rooms provide suitable conditions for teams before, during and after matches, with players’ health and safety given priority.
The board emphasised that it would continue working with various football stakeholders across the country to ensure Mainland Premier League matches are played in safe environments and in accordance with the required safety procedures and standards.
The implementation of this measure forms part of broader efforts to strengthen stadium safety management and protect the health of players, technical staff and other team officials.
