Simba SC honorary president and investor Mohammed Dewji, popularly known as ‘Mo Dewji’, has reportedly put Sh500 million on the table as a bonus for the team’s players if they beat Yanga SC in their Mainland Premier League clash scheduled for Saturday, October 11, 2026.
The move is said to be a deliberate strategy by the billionaire to boost the players’ morale and motivation ahead of the highly anticipated derby between the traditional rivals, which has attracted enormous interest from football fans across Tanzania and the wider East and Central African region.
In addition to the financial incentive, sources within the Msimbazi-based club indicate that Mo Dewji has fully funded Simba’s training camp as part of his efforts to ensure the team restores its pride in the derby following disappointing results in recent seasons.
The Secret Behind the Huge Bonus
Sources close to Simba’s management say the bonus has been increased to give the players extra motivation and determination to fight for victory over the 90 minutes.
“Mo wants a victory against Yanga on Saturday. The Sh500 million is specifically for securing all three points against Yanga, and every player understands the significance of this promise,” the source said.
This season, Simba have set ambitious targets in domestic competitions, particularly the league, where they are pursuing the title, while also aiming to perform better in the CAF Champions League.
The club has an established bonus system for each match, but Mo also offers additional incentives personally, depending on the significance of a particular fixture.
