Simba SC head coach Steve Barker continued his impressive record in the NBC Premier League after leading the team to a 2-0 victory over Azam FC in a match played at Azam Complex in Chamazi two days ago.
The victory extended Barker’s unbeaten run in the Premier League to 31 consecutive matches since joining Simba, during which his team has recorded 24 wins and seven draws.
Across those matches, Simba have collected 79 points, scored 54 goals and conceded just 10, highlighting the consistency of the results achieved under the South African coach.
The match against Azam was important in maintaining that record, with Simba having to wait until the second half to find both of their goals.
Azam scored an own goal in the 58th minute after a corner taken by Nathaniel Chilambo caused confusion inside the penalty area, before Clatous Chama added Simba’s second goal in the 67th minute.
The result continued Simba’s strong start to this season’s Premier League campaign, with the team winning all six of its matches while Barker further extended the number of games he has gone unbeaten since taking charge.
Barker joined Simba in December 2025 from South African club Stellenbosch, where he had built the team into one of the competitive sides in the country’s football.
Since arriving at Msimbazi, the coach has continued to produce positive league results, while his defence has demonstrated impressive solidity by conceding only 10 goals in those 31 matches.
At the other end of the pitch, Simba have scored 54 goals during that period, averaging more than 1.5 goals per match.
The victory over Azam also extended Simba’s strong start to the season, with the team continuing to position itself strongly in the race for the Premier League title.
