Simba SC, the Reds of Msimbazi, continued to put themselves in a strong position this season after defeating Azam FC 2-0 in a match played at Azam Complex in Chamazi.
The victory means Simba have maintained their unbeaten record this season without a single draw, extending their 100 percent winning record to six consecutive victories.
Under the technical bench led by head coach Steve Barker, the Reds of Msimbazi have displayed quality and attractive football, demonstrating their determination to restore their dominance in domestic football.
Simba have now collected 18 valuable points, putting significant pressure on their closest rivals. In recent seasons, Azam FC have been a major obstacle for the Reds of Msimbazi. The Chamazi side have repeatedly disrupted Simba’s calculations in the title race, making today’s encounter more than just a battle for three points.
Idumba, Chama Decide the Match
The match, which was highly competitive in the first half, swung Simba’s way in the second period. Azam FC’s goal was breached following an error by their defender, Nathaniel Idumba Fasika, who scored an own goal while attempting to clear a dangerous header from Rushine De Reuck.
As Azam FC tried to get back into the match, Zambia international midfielder Clatous Chama put the final nail in the coffin by scoring Simba’s second goal after a quick counterattack, completely ending the hosts’ hopes and securing three crucial points away from home for Simba.
Simba proved to be more dangerous on the counterattack, while Barker’s players demonstrated a high level of defensive discipline.
