The NBC Premier League is set to witness a clash between two of Dar es Salaam’s football giants, Azam FC and Simba SC, as they go head-to-head tomorrow in the highly anticipated ‘Mzizima Derby’ at Azam Complex in Chamazi.
The match comes with Simba targeting all three points to strengthen their position in the league standings. However, encounters between the two sides have rarely been straightforward, with both teams consistently pushing each other to the limit.
What do the records say?
Statistics from the last 10 NBC Premier League meetings between the two teams show no clear dominant side, making tomorrow’s encounter particularly difficult to predict.
In their last 10 league meetings, Simba SC have secured three (3) victories, while the Chamazi-based Azam FC have won twice (2). The two giants have shared the points in five (5) matches.
Their most recent meeting came on April 5, 2026, when the two sides played out a goalless draw at the same venue in Chamazi.
However, Azam FC will enter the match remembering their 2-0 away victory over Simba on December 7, 2025.
Speaking ahead of the match, Simba Communications and Media Manager Ahmed Ali said Simba are determined to ensure they do not drop points against Azam FC this time around.
"Azam FC are among the teams that have disrupted our calculations in the title race. This time, we are prepared and do not want to drop points against them," said Ahmed.
Simba will enter the match with a stronger record this season, as the Reds of Msimbazi have won all five of their league matches and both of their CAF Champions League matches, while Azam FC have already dropped four points
