Simba winger Anicet Oura has expressed his belief that this season could be a highly successful one for the Reds of Msimbazi, particularly in their CAF Champions League campaign.
Oura said Simba has learned from the challenges of last season and is now in a stronger position to perform well, with the squad enjoying greater understanding and cohesion.
Last season was a difficult one for Simba after the club made major changes to the squad, signing many new players who needed time to adapt to one another and build a strong connection on the pitch.
“Last season was difficult because we had many new players and needed time to get to know each other. Now we already understand each other well, we know the coach’s philosophy, and every one of us is hungry for success,” Oura said.
The Ivory Coast international stressed that Simba’s ambitions this season go beyond simply reaching the group stage.
He said Simba aims to progress beyond the group stage and reach the latter stages of the competition, with the dream being to reach at least the semifinals or even the CAF Champions League final.
Gives Simba Strong Start in Malawi
Oura has been one of the key players in Simba’s early campaign in the competition this season.
The winger secured Simba a crucial 1-0 away victory over Malawi’s Mighty Wanderers after scoring the only goal in the first-leg preliminary-round encounter.
The victory has put Simba in a strong position ahead of the return leg, with the squad now needing to protect that advantage to progress in the competition.
Simba will return to action on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at Uhuru Stadium in Dar es Salaam for the second leg against Mighty Wanderers.
Simba fans will be hoping to see their team complete the job and qualify for the next stage of the CAF Champions League.
This season appears to be different. Greater understanding within the squad, shared experience and a strong desire to succeed have given Simba renewed hope of making more history in Africa’s premier club competition.
